This Carter Mac is turning into a mischievous little boy!! It must be that he is just ready to start preschool and have something more to entertain him than what we have to offer at home. He is a smart and funny boy, and has more energy than any of us know what to do with. I'm not sure where he comes up with some of the things that he does, but just this morning we were at the McDonald's play place and he climbed to the top and said, "Look Mom! We're in South America!" He has such a kind heart and can be so helpful with Taytum and Andi. He is really into dancing right now and I love watching him change the way he dances depending on what song he is listening to. He does what we like to call "the dolphin" and it is dang funny. I can't wait to see what he does with preschool.

Mommy Moment: Friendly Girl
Oh my Andi. She is such a sweet, friendly girl. Two stories from last week that both just melt my heart:First, the primary president caught me at the end of primary last week and said, "I just have to share with you what a sweet daughter you have." She got all teary and then proceeded to tell me that every time she goes into nursery Andi goes up to the president and kind of gives her a report about who is sad that day in nursery. Well, last Sunday when the primary president came in, Andi came up and said, "So-and-so is sad. What should we do?" The president said, "Maybe she needs a friend." So Andi went over to this little girl who was crying and just sat next to her and held her hand.
Then, we were at the fair Wednesday evening and Carter and Andi were riding rides like maniacs. The second they got off one ride they would run to the next and just hop in line. Well, I caught up to them in line and Andi was standing there holding another little girl's hand who looked to be about her same age and the girl's dad was standing right there. The girl then asked if she could go on the ride with Andi and the dad said that was fine. They got on the ride and it was kind of like a tilt-a-whirl that has a little booth/seat that can hold about six people, I look in their cart because I didn't ride with them and Andi is sitting between the little girl and her dad. I just had to laugh. She is SO friendly!! I love that girl.
Toothy Taytum
Taytum has a lot of teeth coming in! Her top two are barely poking through along with one more on the bottom; and it appears one more on top is trying to make an appearance. She is going to look so different. Taytum continues to be a happy, cheesy little thing. Her new favorite game is climbing the stairs. She'll go and climb one and I'll say "Uh-oh Taytum." To which she giggles and turns and climbs a couple more as fast as she can. Then she'll turn and look to see if I'm coming. I'll repeat, "Uh-oh Tay." Giggle. Turn. Climb. Look. It's too funny. Guess I need to be more diligent with the baby gate. She'll still get her sticky little fingers on toilet paper every chance she gets. She LOVES to eat, eat, eat. I think she eats more at breakfast than any of us. Growing girl. Another favorite is the blinds. Something about crinkling and pulling and bending blinds amuses the heck out of her. She is doing much better with standing and attempting walking. She'll walk around with her little push toy and occasionally forgets she needs it and lets go. She is also becoming quite the booty popping dancer. Stop growing up!

Taytum turned 1!
My little Taytum is one!! I can't believe it. She is growing up way too fast. She remains our calm, content spirit in our home. We absolutely love this little lady!At 1 yo Taytum:
-only has two teeth
-LOVES eating
-is weened from her bottle and takes whole milk, cold from the fridge in her sippy cup
-sleeps 12 hours at night and takes 3 hours worth of naps
-can crawl up stairs, but not down them yet
-loves crawling after Carter and Andi and being a part of whatever the are doing
-takes her binky like a champ
-has the biggest dimple in her left cheek
-can stand up to things and has started scaling around the furniture a little bit, but cannot stand on her own for any amount of time
-loves bath time
-has had three double ear infections in the past four months and will be getting tubes in her ears later this month
-would pick the pack and play over her crib any day... go figure
-has a very low and growly laugh
-hasn't said any intelligible words yet... she'll babble 'mama' and 'dada'
-has recently discovered the joy of unrolling toilet paper from a roll... she goes to it every time she's near a bathroom and if I tell her "uh-oh" she will stop, look at me, smile, and then unroll some more. She knows she is being naughty and thinks she is too funny
Happy birthday little Taytum, Tay, Taytah, Taywah, Taynah,Taytatanata, Tater tot, Timmy! We love you!
Taytum's birthday...
We did a little impromptu party for Taytum's birthday. I seriously decided on the afternoon of Tuesday the 27th that we should do something, and her birthday was the 29th. Jefferson's mom and sister were in town and we live next to so much family that we decided to do a little get together. It was just going to be cake and ice cream, but I decided dinner wouldn't be so hard to throw together. Then, if it's her first birthday there should at least be a few decorations, and perhaps a few presents to open too. It still wasn't a big to do, but there was a little bit to do in the one day I had to throw it together.
I had to show a picture of Jefferson's contribution. He is pretty good about just going along with pretty much whatever I am doing. He may or may not have rolled his eyes once or twice, but he was a good sport and was a master M&M sorter.
I was sick of seeing pink for baby girls and it's not very fun for a one year old, so we went a little bolder and brighter this year. The cake was made pretty late at night, so don't judge...
We threw up a few decorations:

I decorated those little boxes and packed them full of treats that Taytum could enjoy: wafer cookies, goldfish, fruit loops, cookie sticks, animal crackers, & teddy grahams.
The birthday girl enjoying her balloons. She could have played on the floor with them for an hour and been content.
Aunt Alli made a stop by before she had to go to work:

The kiddos eating their dinner:
Albertson's does free first birthday cakes. I thought it was going to be more large cupcake size, but this is the huge cake we received!
She is this excited before cake... just wait until she digs in!
At first she thought it was just to play with. She swirled her fingers in the frosting for a long time.
Dad finally gave her a little taste...
She likes it!
I've got the hang of this!
Her mouth is so stuffed full of cake that she can't even close her mouth!
Full fisting it!
Thanks to everyone who came and sent birthday wishes her way! It was a very special 1st birthday!

Taytum enjoying her dinner. Who knew that she would love that silly headband so much. She left it on for a good 15 minutes.
