Who needs baby food?

Jefferson and I were in the kitchen getting dinner ready tonight and Taytum was sitting in her high chair being a little fussy. Andi went over to her and we weren't really paying attention. Andi kept saying, "She's happy, she likes it." Both Jefferson and I kind of just went "yeah, uh-huh" as we kept getting dinner on the table. Pretty soon I actually pay attention to her and look over and Andi has her purple sucker in Taytum's mouth. Yup, she was happy and she liked it!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Taytum dear!

It's this little girl's half birthday!! Six months old! I can't believe it. She is getting so big. She is rolling around on the floor. She loves her rice and oatmeal cereal still. She is grabbing things a lot better now and reaches for toys on the floor. She can now be sat on my hip so it's easier to hold her with only one hand. I love that! Her hair is falling out big time. It comes out in chunks. Poor little baldy. Tay loves her mobile, and has for quite some time. She would lay in her crib all day rolling around, smiling, cooing and talking to her little butterflies. She is starting to sit up a little bit better, but it feels like we are a long way off from actually sitting unsupported.

Tay is sleeping through the night pretty well. She almost always wakes up around 4 am, but we pop in her binky and she usually quiets back down. She has been a bit of a mess this past week, partly due to constipation. It's been pretty sad. Too much rice cereal... She is a doll!

C-Mac

This little guy. He is just growing up before our eyes. He is trying to label his feelings and use adjectives and it makes us laugh quite frequently. Some of our favorite things: Taytum has pretty big eyes, and when you lean over her and block the light they get bigger (obviously, right?). Carter does this a lot to her because he thinks it's funny and he'll say, "Taytum has wild eyes!" The "wild eyes" makes me laugh every time. We were driving with the radio on the other day, just in the background, and when the song got over, I don't even think I heard what song it was, Carter said, "That was an angry song."
He LOVES sunbeams. The first Sunday he went to primary, the primary sang in sacrament meeting. I wasn't sure if he would go up by himself, but he just trotted right up there, positioned himself at the front, and stood there smiling and singing some of the words. It was so cute. I was teary through the whole thing.

The other night I asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up and he said, "Tall, tall, tall." Then I asked him what he wanted to do when he grows up and he said, "I want to eat food, and come and take a picture with my family, and read the scriptures." I don't know where he got that.
He is into writing his letters still, but he really likes drawing people ever since Christmas. My mom was showing him how to draw a stick figure and Carter drew the right arm like my mom showed him, and then when he went to draw the left arm, he switched his marker to the left hand. It made me laugh. To be so ambidextrous. This is the first person he drew. It's a self portrait. He likes that his hair is really tall.
This is Dad on our mirror.
Carter has also taught me that the letter "N" looks an awful lot like the letter "Z". Also, that the letter "C" is probably the most confusing letter in the alphabet. It sounds like the letter "K" and also like the letter "S", so why not just get rid of the letter "C" and use "K" and "S" instead? I think both Carter and I would like to know that.
Carter likes to tease. He'll say silly things or ask for something he knows he can't have (like candy before dinner) and then he'll say, "I was only kidding you" or "I was just teasing."
He LOVES this batman mask and dressing up.

Moo-Moo

This little girl. What a sassy little thing. She is so grown up. She LOVES dancing and singing and reading books. She has recently stopped napping most of the time. Don't get me wrong, she is in her room for "quiet time" for the duration of the nap, but she does not sleep. She loves all things princess and Tinkerbell still. She also has a little flare for the dramatic. It's quite amusing to watch. Whenever Carter accidentally, barely bumps her she'll start doing this ridiculous fake cry. She is a huge tattle tale. She wants so badly to be a big kid and go to preschool and Sunbeams with Carter. She loves her mom. :) She loves to have her nails painted and putting on make-up and getting her hair done and playing dress up. She gives the BEST hugs, especially at night. She'll pull you down and squeeze you as hard as she can. They are the greatest! She gives out kisses liberally. She has taken a new interest in Taytum. She loves reading books to her, giving her her binky, giving Tay kisses, and making sure she is happy.

Her new favorite phrase is "Maybe later." She'll ask if she can have something, like a cookie, and I'll give her a look like, "yeah right," and then she'll say "Maybe later." Or she'll ask to watch a movie and I'll say, "Not right now," to which she responds, "Maybe later." Andi is rocking the potty training! She is pooping on the potty and staying dry at night!! Hooray!

I LOVE my Family.

While Sam & Nikki were here they were kind enough to do a little photo shoot of our family. The pics turned out great! We love them! Thank you Your Vantage Photography!

What we've been up to....

This past Friday my brother Sam and his wife Nikki came up for a visit. We had a blast with them. My kids especially love having people come visit. We just hung out, went to the outlet mall, ate LOTS of food and LOTS of candy, stayed up way too late playing the Wii (until we broke it), came to church with us and got to see my crazy four year old class, and got our pictures taken by them. We just went out to lunch this afternoon and they had to head home. Here we are wii-ing it very late one night. We even moved the couches closer to the TV.
We started Tay on rice cereal about five days ago. This was her first experience documented. She was not a super fan at first. These pictures are funny because she wasn't crying, just making these horrible faces. And of course, she wasn't quite sure what to do with this non liquid substance in her mouth and most of it ended back out on her bib.
Andi and Carter had to come check out what Mom was doing to Taytum and as you can see, Taytum was not too scarred from the experience and was easily pacified by her brother and sister.
She loves rice cereal now! She will whine between bites if I'm not fast enough. Whenever we put her in her high chair now she will whine to be fed, even if I was just putting her there to join the rest of us at a meal. I usually just put her in there and let her hang out with some toys while we eat. Not anymore. She wants in on the action. I sense a growth spurt coming on. We've had a few playdates with friends, which is always nice. Here is Andi with our friend Zach. The two are buddies in nursery and Andi will randomly say, "I like Zach. He is so handsome." We also had our friends Ty, Alec, and Ben over. They are fun boys and all of our kids get along great!
Jefferson and I headed down to Idaho Falls last Friday afternoon. We left around one in the afternoon and came back that night around 1-2 in the morning. Ashlee so graciously watched Carter and Andi while we headed down (thank you Ash!!). They even had a sleep over where Carter and Teage shared a room. Fun for them that night, not so fun for us the next day when he was super tired from not enough sleep (and so were we!) We headed down for a seminar put on by a chiropractic business coach. It was a great afternoon/evening. We got eight hours of uninterrupted conversation in the car, just me and Jefferson. Taytum slept the whole way , except for about fifteen minutes out on the way there, and for the last half hour on the way back. Then we got to go out to dinner compliments of the Longs. (Thank you Longs!) And we finished the evening at this seminar, which was super beneficial and got us totally recommitted to our practice.
Oh yes... and potty training. We have been in the throws of pee and poo for about two weeks now. We have/are day training Andi and night training Carter. I thought Andi would never take to potty training. Now, let's revisit my experience with Carter. No accidents since day one of being in underwear. I put them on him and it's been in the potty every since. I mean, he's had a few accidents here and there and there was one week about a month or two after we potty trained where he regressed and had about five accidents in one week, but all in all, it was a cinch! He has never once gone poop in his pants. Ok, let's fastforward to now with Andi. Day 1: 5 accidents (give or take) + 0 times on the potty. Day 2: 4 accidents + 1 kind of partial success on the potty (I caught her peeing on the carpet and rushed her to the potty where she went a teeny tiny bit). We made a huge deal about it and she got what she asked for: pink cupcakes. We offered her Tinkerbell toys, princess stuff, whatever her heart's desire. She picked pink cupcakes like Pinkalicious. Day 3: Just when I thought maybe we weren't quite ready for potty training, I was getting breakfast ready when Andi yelled, "Mom, I went on the potty!" I thought to myself, "Yeah right." She says that every time she sits on the potty. But I came over to check and lo and behold, she had gone on the potty!!! Success!!! And ever since she has been going on the potty for pee. She has had one or two accidents since, but remembered to tell her nursery leader she needed to go in church and has gone out in public restrooms. What a big girl.... mostly. The poop thing is still unsuccessful, and unlike Carter, she could care less if she is sitting in poopy underwear. Any suggestions? My guess is that she'll just need to go once on the potty and then have it figured out. She is doing awesome though. We have really been into doing something artsy or out of the ordinary every day. Usually we do something that has to do with the letter of the week at Carter's preschool. This day we decided to make an ocean. We hunted around the house for all things that had to do with the ocean. We have a whole set of little plastic sea creatures, plus a Little People pirate and treasure chest and an island. I let the kids fill this tub up with water. Then we added lentil beans for sand and added all of our sea creatures. I would make the kids find certain animals. Then they just played and splashed around in it for another hour. This was a few weeks ago when we actually had snow. Today is 55 and sunny. Very pleasant and very not winter. Anyways. The kids LOVE playing outside in the snow. They beg every time there is snow on the ground to go out there and play and they just entertain each other for at least an hour. I was not even out there with them. It was so fun to watch them from the window playing so well together. They followed each other around the yard making fresh prints and "going to the castle." Then we found them over in the farthest part of the yard just sitting next to each other talking. They are the best playmates.

Carter also started primary as of the first of the year. He LOVES primary!! He insists that we wait in the chapel and let him walk to primary by himself, even though I have a calling in the junior primary. He is so attentive during sharing and singing time (even though singing time is painfully boring!!!). He always volunteers to go up to the front and help with sharing time. And whenever they walk out to go to class, he'll pass by my class and flash me this cute little smile and wave. I love it. find myself just staring at him during primary because he is so dang cute! I will have to scan in the picture we have of his first day in Sunbeams. His teacher took these really cute pictures of them in their sunbeam headbands they made. Super cute. What a big boy.

It has been so long between posts because I am helping out with Jefferson's business a lot. I am doing all of the marketing; writing newsletters, designing flyers, ordering brochures, etc. I also answer some calls that come into the "office". I LOVE doing all the marketing stuff, but it is super time consuming and hard to balance that with taking care of three kids, exercising, cooking, shopping, cleaning, doing laundry, joining a book club, arranging playdates, etc. Something had to give and so for now, it's blogging. I will try to keep on top of it, mostly because I love blogging and love having this little family journal of ours. But like I said, there are only so many hours in the day...

This little bundle is 5 months old already! She started rolling all the way over on Dec 26. And of course she did it when I was out and about with my parents and Jefferson was upstairs putting the other two little munchkins to bed. Little stinker! She loves looking at her mobile, watching Carter and Andi run around her, and although she started as a stingy smiler, she has become so easy to get a smile out of. Her hair is definitely thinning and she has a super sweet bald spot on the back of her head. Awesome. She has started copying us a little. She is still just as content as can be most the time and doesn't mind being held as much anymore. I love it! I love her! Look at that round face and big blue eyes, what's not to love?!

Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!

This post is a little late in coming and a little jumbled. I am having problems with my posts and I'm not sure if it's blogger, our internet connection, our computer, or the user. :) Anyways, it's highly annoying and I apologize for the disjointedness. (like that new word?)

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! Ours was wonderful. It started well before Christmas. The weekend before, Jefferson's littlest sister Ali was in town and we got together for a family dinner. It was really fun. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so I'll have to snag some pics from my SIL Ashlee. It was fun to have all the Harmon siblings together, minus Abbey who is on her mission.

Christmas Sunday was wonderful. It was fun to get the kids all dressed up in their Christmas outfits.

Sisters, sisters....
The sibs:
The girls:
The guys:
My parents got in late Wednesday night and we stayed up even later talking. Wednesday morning we got up and got to cooking. Andi and Carter "helped." Carter mostly just stood by the counter eating pistachios. He probably ate a good pound of them, no joke. He and my mom fought over them! :)
Since we were eating an early dinner we just snacked on hors d'oeuvres; shrimp, homemade cheeseball, mini quiche, veggies...
We had some visitors. Josh and Jenn stopped by bringing good tidings. Gifts for all!
Carter loved his cowboy outfit, just like Woody's!
Then Grandpa Jon stopped by with these adorable blankets. Aren't they cute?
Then we hade our delicious feast. After eating we headed out Christmas light looking. Andi has been begging to go out for about a month. Every time we pulled into our driveway she would cry that she wanted to go out to look at lights. It was pretty cute. The kids loved looking at the lights, as did the adults, and we sang Christmas carols all the way.
When we got home we read the nativity out of the scriptures. Our kids dressed up for the event. This was our first year, and though it was short lived, it gives us something to build on.

We also opened up Chrismtas pajamas. We don't have a pic of the kids' together in theirs. Dangit! But here I am with Taytum in ours:
Christmas morning was wonderful! Our kids are still too young to know to wake up early to open presents so they didn't get up until 8! Jefferson and I came down and played some Wii amongst the presents, and then my parents joined us, and finally at 8 we went and got the kids and Andi was still sleeping! They woke up really fast when we told them that Santa had paid them a visit.
This is what Taytum did all morning:
Don't you love those grungy Christmas morning pictures? This is one of them:
And the thing that Carter has been begging for for months; Buzz Lightyear stuff!! The undies give it that real official superhero look. This boy was in heaven.
It was so funny. That wingspan really is impressive, and within a minute of having his wings on Carter walked past one of our end tables and completely wiped out one of our nativities. It was hilarious.
And add the new camera to the mix...
He also got a new bike, Toy Story helmet, Linkin' logs, toy snakes, clothes...

Andi got princess dress up shoes, Tinkerbell dress up outfit, a chest of princess dresses, a baby bear bassinet (too cute to even describe), a unicorn, some Hello Kitty stuff...

However, Andi loved Grandpa's new foot massager and spent more time using it than anyone else that morning!
Woody and Buzz:
After all the present opening and traditional breakfast (bran muffins, peppered bacon, & oranges) and cleaning up a bit, we headed to the movies to see "The Princess and the Frog." It was so cute!! It was slightly scary in a few places, but didn't seem to phase my kids. The story is super cute and the music was great.
Then we came home to play and enjoy our new toys and having GramZee and Grandpa Paul here for another day.

Another great present; Carter's new bike!
Taytum's new dress:

Glad they both can enjoy Andi's new dressup chest of princess dresses and accessories:
Tay's new sock monkey. So classic.
A new Buzz Lightyear:
Then, in an effort to avoid going to bed and spending just a little more time with Gramzee and Grandpa Paul before they had to leave, Carter and Andi kept trying to hide behind them. Very sneaky.

It was so wonderful having my parents here and to celebrate at home. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a happy new year!
