Recipes

I have had a few requests for a couple of recipes. The first is the peanut butter bars that we had at playgroup this morning. Yum!

Peanut Butter Squares:
1 cup butter
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2/3 tsp soda
2/3 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups oats
1 1/2 cups flour

Mix all together; spread on cookie sheet, bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Pull out of oven and let cool slightly, spread a layer of peanut butter if you really like a peanut buttery taste, then let cool completely.

Frosting:
1 1/3 cup sugar
6 Tbsp. butter
6 Tbsp. milk

Boil and then add:
1 cup chocolate chips
vanilla (a capful or so)

The next recipe are the bran muffins that we had Christmas morning. Don't be fooled by the "bran" they are delicious and probably not the most nutritious.

2 cups boiling water
5 Tbsp soda
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
4 cups All Bran
2 cups bran flakes
1-2 cups chopped dates
4 eggs
1 qt buttermilk
5 cups flour
1 tsp. salt

Add soda to boiling water. Cool. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Add buttermilk. Add flour and salt. Add cooled water. Mix in cereal and dates.
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.

You can store in the fridge for up to 6 weeks.
